hey how would you like to go to Dodgeville with me and paint?

Hey, How are you?...hey how would you like to go to Dodgeville with me and  paint over the first weekend in May in Lorin's Painting seminar?  If you would be interested in spending time in Governor Dodge State Park during the day and stay at the local Super 8 for for two days, Friday and Saturday we could split the cost.  .  It would be low key and restfu yet fun to paint and talk about what we did.

Yours in messy paint,

Fwd: Verification of Chicago Art Institute Field Trip

I will be going and will ride with someone or offer rides in my van if needed.

Hi Folks,

Please note:

If you plan on attending our field trip to the Chicago Art Institute on Saturday, March 29th, you will need to email Judith, and copy me.

This is the only way that we can track accurately, who is going, when they signed on and how many are attending.

If you tell someone by word of mouth that doesn’t count. This verification needs to be in an email to Judith (copy me).

Remember, if you attend the class on Thursday, March 27th (the class just before the trip), there is no class fee for the field trip to the Art Institute. All you will need to pay for is your ticket, your meals and drinks, and help us all split the costs to the driver.

At this time, assuming we fill “Liberty One” the estimate of the costs to the driver is approximately $18.-. per person (this includes the parking costs, gas, and museum ticket). I estimated the parking costs higher than they probably will be, so it’ll probably be less. And if anyone has an extra museum ticket as a member of the Institute we’ll give that ticket to the driver, which will make our transportation costs even lower.

Yours in paint,

Lorin

WPS Studio Space

Hi Folks,

I would like to take this opportunity to put a shout out; “Hey, Thank you!” to Debra Patterson, and Bill Ward.

Last night, fueled by Taco’s and beverages the three of us went at the WPS studio space with a vengeance and CLEANED! Yes, tonight you will be walking into a practically new studio that actually smells like Pine-sol. You might walk in and turn around and start to walk outside again, thinking that you walked into the wrong place. ;-)

Anyway, enjoy, and see you soon!

Yours in paint,

Lorin

Re: Lorin Willey's WPS Chicago Art Institute Field Trip

I would love to volunteer but my Mazda is pretty old and doesn't hold many people, so I just want to be a passenger and yes $20 is a great deal.  Thanks Sue.

Hi Folks,

We have our first driver!

Sue Schwegal has graciously volunteered to be Driver number 1 as our chauffer into the urban modernity of Chicago town on Saturday, March 29th. I will be her co-pilot and shotgun toter. If we have more than 7 people who want to join us on this trip, we will need another driver. As stated earlier, costs for parking, gas, museum ticket and tolls will be split equally among all of us non-drivers,  to go to the driver/owner of the hauling vehicle. At this time there is room for 5 more people in our vehicle. If more participate we will need someone else to step up. To give you an idea, Sue and I calculated the costs and those 6 passengers in our vehicle will be paying approximately $20. each for transportation in the "liberty" van, now christened; "Liberty One". Now that's a pretty darn good deal, I'd say. If more than 5 more people sign on, and someone else is needed to drive, we will split the costs between both drivers equally among all of the non-drivers. If you bring a quest, I would ask that you pay for that person as well, as they are taking a student's spot.

Wagons Ho!!!!!

Yours in the painted "Liberty One". J

Class Assignment

Hi Folks,

I was just wondering how your assignments were coming along. I would like to set a due date for Thursday, March 13th to review the finished projects. I know that all of you aren’t participating in this one, so don’t panic if you are not aware of what I am referring to. If you missed some classes lately, you might have missed this. It’s ok, there’s always more projects on the way to learn from.

For those who are participating, here is the refresher:

Complete a finished painting (completely finished, ready to frame) in the color you randomly picked (there were six in all…..yellow, orange, red, violet, blue, green) along with white, and black. No pure whites, or pure blacks should appear in the final work. Your whites, and blacks and greys should have some element of your chosen color in them. For those of you familiar with photography, you will remember duotones. The final work will appear something like that. Remember, this is not meant to be an underpainting; it is meant to be the completed work.

Any subject matter is fine although you might want to consider the color you selected in relation to the mood or subject matter of your work. Also, remember that none of these should be larger than 16” x 20”.

I look forward to seeing these and discussing them with you on Thursday, March 13th.

I think you’ll be intrigued when you see the results when viewing these together in a grouping. J

Yours in paint,

Lorin

Re: Invitation: Lorin WilleyChicago Art Institute Field Trip for Saturday... @ Sat Mar 29 1:30pm - Sun Mar 30, 2014 2am (carollynn2art@gmail.com)

WHY are we driving to Chicago?  By the time you do parking, gas, and - did you know that if your car's bumper(even) is in a turn lane and the light changes, or if you go thru on a yellow light, that it's a $100. fine (to raise $ for an underwater economy in the city).  They have traffic cameras all over.  Amtrak is $48. RT, and Greyhound is $18 RT purchased online.  Megabus is not to be considered - unreliable - too bad.

Hi all,

Lorin Willey is announcing his
Chicago Art Institute Field Trip for Saturday, March 29, 2014.

We will be carpooling/ driving down to the Chicago Art Institute that day for a tour with Lorin. We will be viewing the excellent permanent collection of the Chicago Art Institute with its many extraordinary works! Lorin is personally very familiar with many of these works and will be lecturing throughout on the 3C's (the creativity, craftsmanship, and clarity of intent) of several of the works that we view.

We will meet at the: Park and Ride, at 1500 W. College Ave, Milwaukee, WI (at the lot on the East side of the road). There are two lots, so be sure to be at the one on the East side of the highway (the lot closest to the lake). See link provided here: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/parkride/lots/mil4020.htm

We will leave at 8:30am sharp!
So please don't be late. I suggest that you shoot for 8:15am to give yourself plenty of time.

We should be arriving at the Art Institute around 10:15 AM.

The Art Institutes hours that day are 10:30 AM to 5 PM.

General admission for the Institute

for Adults is $23

for Seniors (65 and up) is $17.

We also plan on going out to dinner after 5 pm and returning to Milwaukee afterwards.

Whoever drives will be compensated for gas, all parking costs for the day, and their museum ticket. If you drive, essentially all you'll be paying for is your drinks and meals for the day. Those who don't drive will split these costs. People with SUV's (vans) are asked to step forward as we can haul more people that way.

Please note: This is a class trip with lectures from Lorin throughout on the techniques of the artists we view.

However, this is also a chance to get together as a group and have fun at one of the top art museums in the world.

So, if you attend the Thursday night class prior to our trip (Thursday, March 27th ), there is no class fee for this trip.

However, if you do not attend the March 27th Thursday night class, the class fee for the Chicago Art Institute Field Trip will be $35. to class members (this will be collected before we start the tour). Of course, your significant others are free, no more than one quest per student, please.
